Being around birds makes us happier

March 15, 2021

As readers of international news website Good News Network, we recently very much enjoyed their article on the benefits of being surrounded by a strong bird life.

It started "German research has found that being surrounded by a wide variety of birds can offer increasing life satisfaction equivalent to $150 per week of added income..... According to our findings, the happiest Europeans are those who can experience numerous different bird species in their daily life, or who live in near-natural surroundings that are home to many species,"

A varied bird life is something we are somewhat blessed with in Harrogate. Species within the Harrogate and surrounding Ripon, Masham, Knaresborough and Pateley Bridge areas include red kites (thanks to the conservation work), buzzards, chiffchaffs, barn owls, goosanders, ravens and bramblings.

Our historical town has won numerous awards over the recent years for being the happiest place to live in the UK and the birdlife just adds to this contentment!

There's nothing better than waking up to birdsong and that is something we are so lucky to experience within our morning routines here in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Whether you're a keen birdwatcher or not, you'll soon experience the joys of the bird wildlife on your break with us.
