Days out in North Yorkshire - places to take dogs

July 21, 2021

Aysgarth Falls North Yorkshire – one of the most famous beauty spots in England

A series of cuttings through the limestone causes the River Ure to cascade in three stages for over a mile between the high falls and lower falls in Upper Wensleydale.  There are gentle walks along marked walks to viewing platforms and steep steps down to the falls themselves.

The Falls are in the Yorkshire Dales National Park near Hawes.  There is a large car park with good facilities near to the Upper Falls.

There are picnic tables dotted around the falls themselves making for an excellent day out- highly recommended after a day or two of rain as the falls are truly stupendous when flowing at full force.

Dogs are welcome provided they are on a lead as there are sheep grazing and rare ground nesting birds such as curlew in the vicinity.

Hawes, a pretty Dales village is nearby- famous for manufacturing the famous Wensleydale Cheeses – there is an excellent tea room serving lunches and teas. The shop is full of local produce and of course cheese!  If you arrive early enough you can watch the manufacturing process.

Dogs are welcome in outdoor areas- they provide water for dogs. See their website for details and more information.
