Dog Fest 2022!

September 28, 2022

Had a wonderful time at the Dog Fest this weekend. There was everything from The Fun Dog Show to a Jack Russell skipping over a rope!

We arrived a little later than planned which unfortunately meant we missed some of the demonstrations. We wandered around for about 20minutes getting our bearings and finding out where everything was. This was not difficult since the event had been thought through and the layout was easy to follow without having to use a map. Just as well considering we forgot to bring it!

Our first point of call was the Fun Dog Show. Duke was participating in two events the first being “The dog the judge would most like to take home with them.” He was very excited to be around so many dogs and since we didn’t manage to fit a walk in before-hand Duke was more than a little exuberant.  Needless to say, we didn’t do too well however, Duke made some new friends and was very happy.

Our second event was the dog with the waggiest tail. Duke is a cocker spaniel with a long whip for a tail which never stops so I thought we would have a good chance at placing. Little did I know of the fierce competition we would be up against. There was not one but two spaniel puppies. If you have ever met a spaniel, you know they are completely bonkers.  A puppy spaniel however, is even more so. Sadly, Duke just wasn’t excitable enough.

After that we tried some of the “Give it A go” activities.  Duke had a wonderful time leaping over haybales, getting around the agility course, and having a go at ball diving.  He was a little scared to jump off the 2meter platform into the water, fortunately there was a ramp he could run down which helped him with his confidence.

All in all, Duke had a wonderful time. The event was well run, and we will definitely go again next year!
