Having a staycation? Why not see Shapespeare in York?August 12, 2019
If you haven’t been to Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre in York, you are missing out!
First there is Hamlet, In which the cast captures the intensity of Shakespeare’s psychological thrill whilst managing the play the subtle humour perfectly.
The same cast is hilarious in Twelthnight. Despite a small Tempest the actors manged to keep their composure and played the weather for laughs.
Then there is the sister company’s production of The Tempest. It gives me chills just thinking about it- no pun intended. It was frightening and intense yet at the same time you couldn’t help but feel for the characters stranded on the Ireland.
Finally, there is Henry V, my personal favourite of all Shakespeare’s historical plays, which I have yet to see. Yeah, I am missing out to!
Well at least, like our guests, I can commute from Harrogate.
You can’t? Good news, you can stay at Artists Cottages in Harrogate ! Only a short 30 min train journey from York!
– Yeah that one was a bit on the nose!
