Proud Harrogatians

April 01, 2020

‘Harrogatian’ the name in which we have coined ourselves; the residents of one of the most beautiful spa towns in the world (if we do say ourselves!)

Being a Harrogatian however, is much more than just that, it denotes a pride which we all share in living in such a picturesque place. We are a community who come together in times of good and bad.

While watching Look North last night, we heard that the Harrogate Convention Centre is being transformed in to a make shift hospital during the Corona pandemic.

Though a small town of just 157,000 people (2014 census), we don’t half have some clout. Whether it’s hosting the UCI Championships as we did in 2019, which welcomed some 69,000 people in to our town, or holding the Great Yorkshire Show which sees teams of Brits and tourists pour in to the Great Yorkshire Showground each year, we most certainly play our part.

We couldn’t be feeling more proud of our town at this time and our Conservative MP Andrew Jones who spoke live last night from the centre of Harrogate. The Convention Centre is the perfect structure from which to care for those who have covid 19.

We are playing our part too and have decided to open to front line workers and essential support staff only. Email us for more information at info@artistscottages.co.uk
