Royal Hall Tours and Harrogate Ghost Walks
October 31, 2024Historic Harrogate.
Harrogate is first and foremost a tourist town. During the time of queen Victoria, people would travel for miles to come and drink from the springs, believing the water to have health benefits.
Over time the town grew, with theatres, shops and hotels being built to aid in the growing tourist trade. This has of course lead to many interesting stories.
The Royal Hall.
One of the best places to visit to gain a little local history is The Royal Hall. There are loads of performances and events going on throughout the year, see their events page for details.
We would recommend booking onto one of their open days, and taking the Royal Hall tour. List of open days can be found here.
Ghost Tours
The number one tour in Harrogate! As mentioned before, Harrogate has a rich history, and the ghost tour is a great way to explore the town at night. Your spooky guide will navigate you through the cobbled streets and tell you many tales of less fortunate visitors who spirts still haunt our hotels and shops!
Well, not really (we hope!) but it is great fun and perfect for the month of October.
Tour take place on the first and last Fridays of each month. See their website for details.
Walking Tour
If you are of a more sensitive disposition, or new to Harrogate, we recommend the walking tour. As the name suggests, your guide will walk you around Harrogate telling you interesting facts and pointing out places of interest. This is perfect for anyone looking to find their way around, or wanting to learn more about the History and culture of Harrogate.
The tour begins at the Senatarth opposite Betty's Tea Rooms. Just look for the man in shorts with the large lollypop sign saying "Walking Tour".
For times check out the website.
