The Great Yorkshire Show 2023

June 16, 2023

The Great Yorkshire Show will return this July from 11th-14th July 2023!

What to expect

The Great Yorkshire Show is best known for its show jumping. The event hosts the national show jumping trials, with the best riders from across the UK and the world coming to take part.

There is also the best horse in show competition or the horse beauty contest as I like to call it, along with the heavy horse category.

Last year there was a special treat with a stunt horse exhibition. Don't worry the horses were not in any danger. Can't say the same for the riders though!

But it is not all about horses! There are also plenty of shops for you to explore and food stalls. My personal recommendation would be the iced yoghurt! Do not knock it until you have tried it!

There are also also several exhibitions and plenty of animals both farm and working.  The sheep shearing contest is always fun.

We haven't even mentioned the wood sculpting, tractors and plough demonstrations.

Kids Zone

This is place reserved for children where you can all learn about farming, and most importantly have fun. There is usually a play area where your children can run around and partake of plenty of fun activities to keep them entertained.

This is often where the picnic seating is as well so you can enjoy your lunch with your children entertained.

Why we get excited!

The Great Yorkshire Show is THE event of the Yorkshire calendar. Farmers from all over the county come together to show off their live stock and to socialise.

Local businesses set up stalls and sell their produce and products.  The local cheese and wine are particularly good.

Over the years the show has grown in its popularity and relevance.

It is something you can bring your whole family to and never get bored no matter how many times you have been before.

The Great Yorkshire Show is a must for anyone who lives in or around Yorkshire.  And absolute must if you have never been to Yorkshire!

Where to Stay?

If you are coming for a specific event as part of The Great Yorkshire Show or to run a stall we would defiantly recommend booking Artists Loft. It is situated a stones throw away from the show grounds and is close to Hornbeam Park railway station.

We also have four other properties located around Kings Road, just a five minute car journey, short walk to the free bus, or a 20 minutes walk to the show grounds.

All information on our wonderful cottages can be found on our website.
