When you are visiting somewhere for the first time, sometimes it helps to have a guide or a map to help you find your way around. 

What we love about Treasure Trails is that they not only act as your guide but are a novel way to explore North Yorkshire. You follow a story which takes you all around a local town or countryside destination by solving clues and puzzles along the way. 

They incorporate local land marks and points of interest, so that should you wish to return you will be able to find your way around. There are a variety of different trails to choose from with different levels of difficulty to suit both adults and children. 

Finding your way around

A problem which used to face our guests was not knowing where to begin or not knowing enough about the area to find their way around. 

This is one reasons we decided to team up with Treasure Trails.  They help us recommend places in the areas around Harrogate which our guests might like to visit. We are very lucky that Harrogate is central to so many historic villages and small towns. Perfect for the casual visitor who wants a proper Yorkshire break. 

The best part is you don't have to do the trails- although why wouldn't you? They are awesome- you can just use them as a point of reference or as suggestions for places to visit and incorporate into your visit. 

There are even a couple centred around Harrogate if you do not fancy a drive through the countryside!

A bit of scenery  

One of my favourite things to do when I go away is take in the scenery of the new place. Sometimes it can feel like landing on a different planet but in the best way possible. 

 When you live in Yorkshire it can be easy to take the vast green hills for granted. The way the sun can just hit the trees in just the right place and how the shades of auburn on the autumn trees can give of this golden glow, is truly sublime.  

Then you come home and find yourself blown away by scenery and find that you can still be blown away by its majesty. 

Yes, the journey to the trail is often just as magical as the trail itself.

Our cottages are conveniently placed for a number of Treasure Trails, we usually leave two trails for you or your family to have go. 

If there is a specific place you are thinking of visiting we are happy to leave you the corresponding trail if one exists and we have it in stock.  You can also download the trails for yourself.
