Yorkshire for your Staycation

June 22, 2020

Yorkshire is a historic region in the middle of Great Britain. Originally occupied in 8000 BC after the retreat of the ice age. During the first millennium, it was occupied by the Romans, Angles and Vikings. Yorkshire comes from ‘Eborakon’, from ‘Efor’ meaning place of the Ye Trees which Yorkshire was very well known for at this time in history.

Yorkshire is the largest region in England and is known for being the home to Michael Parkinson, Jeremy Clarkson, The Yorkshire Pudding and most importantly a most breath taking, scenic landscape.

Home to phenomenal scenery, outstanding castles, beautiful coastlines, atmospheric battle grounds and is steeped in history.

Artists’ Cottages are strategically located in the spa town of Harrogate, making your trip to Yorkshire one to remember. We are just outside of the Yorkshire Dales, a short car drive to the Lake District and the North Yorkshire Moors or an hour and a bit from the North East coast. So whether you’re looking for a walking holiday, or just a relaxing holiday, make Artists’ Cottages your base this Summer.
